‘Eden Again’ explores the marshlands of southern Iraq that once stretched across around 20,000 square kilometres. In 1990, the marshes were drained. The short films explore the life of Arab Marshes, nature of marshland and the impact of Saddam Hussein's project to dry the marshes - what happened during the drying time and after.

The documentary narrates the controversial stories of the Iraqi marshlands that were once home to thousands of Marsh Arabs and many species of birds and fish, as well as rebels who fought against then-president of Iraq, Saddam Hussein. After the first Gulf War, Hussein ordered the marshes drained to suppress the uprising and punish the Marsh Arabs who'd hidden the rebels opposed to his regime. The green land was turned into a desert. 'Eden Again' examines the history of this region and the conflicts that have occurred there.

In 2016 UNESCO named Iraqi marshlands as a world heritage site. The inscription of the property known as ‘The Ahwar of Southern Iraq: Refuge of Biodiversity and the Relict Landscape of the Mesopotamian Cities'. The area named is made up of three archaeological sites of Ur, Uruk and Eridu and four wetland areas namely the Huwaizah, East and West Hammar and Central Marshes in Southern Iraq. People living here hope that the inscription will bring new opportunities for International cooperation for the conservation and sustainable management of the Marshlands which will help them to continue the culture in the place, despite the destruction of Iraqi heritage and antiquities by terrorist groups.
